We are in the year 2020 and it's obvious that our commander in chief turns a blind eye to white nationalist ideologies and behaviors. Even if these ideologies and behaviors result in verbal insults and the deaths of those who are innocent words that are null will be spoken and empty apologies will be thrown. Our European allies may clown Trump, but on the inside they feel lost and sad. This is no laughing matter whatsoever. Meanwhile, here we are in the United States of America where you have asylum seekers detained in cages and travel bans being regarded as "legal" and "justified."
It all starts on August 12, 2017 when some "pretty fine people" decided to rally around a statue of confederate general Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia. This was a two day event that turned ugly real quick. During of the twelfth violence and tragedy took it's toll. Thirty-two year old Heather Heyer was killed when struck by a car driven by a fellow supporter of the Unite The Right Rally's message. If one truly knows the history of this country they could see plain as day that democracy is often times paid with blood.
During the mid-morning of August 13, 2019 a mass shooting occur at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Yet again the suspect was armed with an assault weapon that is not suited for civilians. All of Trump's and Bannon's lies and propaganda was enriched in him. Twenty-two people were killed and twenty-four were injured.
At 1:05 am on the 4th of August (less than a day after the El Paso shooting) Connor Stephan Betts, 24, shot and killed nine people and wounded seventeen near the entrance of Ned Peppers Bar in Dayton, Ohio. What motivated Betts to carry out such an act of mass genocide? Some reports say he was trying to even out the world's chaos. Others say that he needed help or affection. Crazy is crazy. Wrong is wrong. No matter what side of the idle it's coming from.
Time and time again you hear our leaders say that the U.S. is the moral leader of the world. The older I get the more I start to believe it. In Christchurch, New Zealand two mosques were attacked consecutively by a man who was a supporter of white nationalist beliefs and the alt-right. Fifty-one people were killed and forty-nine people were injured. 28 year-old Brenton Tarrant was charged with 51 murders, 40 attempted murders, and engaging in a terrorist act. While in the courtroom Tarrant threw up a hand sign used by white nationalist groups. Clearly, there was no shame in his game.
As citizens we carry an ultimate responsibility. This responsibility is to match the energy and commitment that those supporters of white nationalism and the alt-right have in their motives and replace it with our own righteous causes. Unity is something that the establishment fears the most. Whether one likes it or not this may be our final shot at this. Those that are down with this message can stand. Those who are not down with this message don't have to read this page.
