Pete Buttigieg: South Bend's Native Son
A former vice president. A progressive senator out of Massachusetts. A senator out of Vermont that labels himself a "democratic socialist." A moderate senator out of Minnesota. A billionaire that was mayor of New York City. A wealthy philanthropist and environmentalist. Out of all these voices there's only one candidate that has captured my attention. The person I'm talking about is no other than former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana Pete Buttigieg.
My reason for supporting this candidate has nothing to do with his age, military history, or sexuality. His character and his views on the issues is why I would vote for Buttigieg. The way he stands up for himself during debates is something we all should marvel. Even the Bernie Bros and hecklers have to admit that the kid is tough.
Since former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 Presidential Election to Trump the democrats haven't been the same. Claiming to be "woke" and calling people out on every little detail became something to be proud of.
If I had a choice on the moderate ticket between Biden and Buttigieg I would pick South Bend's native son. We can honestly say that good old Joe can't handle being in competition with a younger man that could sell the same viewpoints as him, but in a better way. Biden (along with other candidates) had the nerve to talk to reporters saying that Buttigieg was no Barrack Obama. Buttigieg would respond to the former vice president and say "And neither is he." I happen to agree with what Buttigieg said as regards to the qualifications of a nominee for the DNC (Democratic National Convention). From Barrack Obama all the way down to Jimmy Carter the democrats always succeed when the outsider takes the lead.
The primary season of 2020 will be about political maturity. Some may want Biden. Some may want Warren. Some may want Bloomberg (for reasons I will never understand). However, the candidate that I'm standing with is Pete Buttigieg hailing from the city of South Bend, Indiana. Once a candidate is chosen during the convention I'll say otherwise.
